▒ Tony Joe White에 대하여..
1943년 7월 23일 LA의 Goodwill에서 태어난 토니 조 화이트(Tony Joe White)에게는 Cherokee의
피가 흐르고 있었다. 60년대 중반 그는 Texas의 클럽에서 일하기 시작했고, 1968년 Nashville로
이주하였다.
1969년 데뷔 앨범 [Monument,Black and White]을 발표한 토니 조 화이트는
이 앨범에서 탑10 힛트를 기록했던 "Polk Salad Annie"와 차트에 올랐던 또다른 힛트곡
"Roosevelt and Ira Lee (Night of the Moccasin)"을 힛트 시켰다. 같은 해에
Dusty Springfield가 이 앨범에 실린 곡 "Willie and Laura Mae Jones"
로 차트에올랐다.
또한 Brook Benton이 그의1970년도 힛트곡
"Rainy Night in Georgia"를 소울풍으로 커버하기도 하였는데,
이 곡은 100명 이상의아티스트들에 의해 커버된
스탠다드곡이기도 하다.
